Here is what my current weekly newsletter looks like. I know figuring out what to include in a weekly newsletter can sometimes be stressful. My parents seem to like being more informed, especially having more specific objectives and a recap of the previous week. Hope my sample helps!

They decorated a person and we talked about the different shades of color people come in. We also discussed the similarities and difference between each other, and how its OKAY to be different :)

Happy Birthday Martin Luther King, jr. cupcakes.
First we had an experiment, brown egg vs. white egg.
Are they the same or different in the inside?
Tally:
Same: 10
Different: 4
Afterwards, we baked cupcakes to celebrate Dr. Kings Birthday ( a little early... but who doesn't like cupcakes?)
Making vocabulary stick and mean something is something I always try very hard to do each week. I started our morning by passing our colored dots.
This is similar to
the colored eye classroom experiment. I had a few different scenarios
and discussed if each activity was just, or unjust. They quickly
understood the meaning behind that word. I also segregated them by color
of dot for other daily classroom activities. None of my kids were upset,
and I reminded them that this was just pretend and an experiment to find out
how people a long time ago felt.
Book of the day
This was a great book
with incredibly illustrations that my children seemed to be captivated by.
Introducing Martin Luther King Jr. to my preschoolers was a lot of fun. I decided to do it the week so that they would know why we get Monday off next week.
For circle time I asked the children what they think a hero is, then briefly talked about MLK and why many people consider him a hero. Afterwards I went around and asked the children who in their life do they consider a hero. I got some great answers :)
LANGUAGE ARTS
We read, Thank you Dr. King and talked about what his dream was. Then learned a song about not fighting, this is one of my and the kids favorites.
